Most likely cause: the virus infected a system file (files on all computers that make em work) and when you removed the virus it deleted the file. I recommend you reinstall the system files (if you don’t know how ask for help, they will know what that means). Or, find your “system files” folder and compare it to that in a functioning computer. Look for missing file(s) and see if you can replace it/them.
Place the CD that came with the computer in the CD drive and restart it. Let it boot from the CD, then choose the repair option.
you have to reboot your whole system..go with windows vista..which i happen to have vista recovery disks for purchase.
