Depending on what Virsus scanner you use, it shouyld automatically remove the virus. If not the I suggest going onto google and searching “Advanced File Remover”download this and browse to the infected file, this will then totally reomove that file. Do this for each infected file, then re-run your visus scan.

Yes, buying a good anti-virus program should help you get rid of viruses. However, do some research first to make sure you are paying for a reliable and well known anti-virus. If you are looking for a free antivirus which is also pretty good, try http://free.grisoft.com/.

if you can get to this link

    http://free.grisoft.com/doc/downloads-products/us/frt/0?prd=aff

download the free avg. It’s the best out there for free.

Once you installed and run the program then your computer should be running better.
Then go to this link and run housecalls. This will clear out any remaining garbage in the system.

mlm is giving great advice, especially with the procedures. but I don’t recommend going with the free antivirus software at this point. go with a free trial of a commercial grade version. i suggest nod32 from http://www.eset.com
also there are some sites that scan it online.
load up Microsoft internet explorer, it won’t run in firefox, and go here
    http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/activescan/?
the bad news is viruses attach themselves to system files in a lot of cases, removing them leaves you with an unbootable machine you have to reinstall windows on. Hopefully that’s not the case, but it very well could be. After you are infected is the worst time to install antivirus software.
Definetly do the panda scan first. that has saved my ass on numerous occasions.

Do you use Google Desktop Search? If you do, you’re not using “Google’s Free Download Of Spyware Doctor From PC Tools (there’s also a free version of PC Tools AntiVirus Available)! R/U Feeling Me! The Freeware is out on the “WEB” just waiting for you! You should also poke around @majorgeeks.com! Software that comes from “Germany” is of very, very “High Quality”. Look for “The Defrag_Team” File ; that i recently published to the Internet from my personal files via “Microsoft”!!

to protect your pc, you’d need not one but at least three programs: an anti-virus, an anti spyware and a firewall. I’ve been using for quite a long time three programs: Kaspersky AV (www.kaspersky.com), True Sword (http://www.securitystronghold.com/download/site/TrueSword4.exe) and Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro (www.agnitum.com). These programs were recommended by my friend, who is a professional programmer, so now i have no problems with any kinds of viruses, spyware or adware
    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
