is there an option to uninstall the drivers? if so try that and restart your computer windows should recognize the hardware as new on the reboot and automatically install the drivers
Your going to need to try and find the drivers, there no other real reason it wouldn’t work unless one of the wires is messed up or not plugged in. Open you computer and see if anything is plugged into it, if not Your power supply should have a floppy plug which usually goes into card readers.
Several things could be wrong,
1: As some have stated before Driver problems
Remedy: load the drivers from a disc (if you have it), or disable and then re-enable the device using the device manager (this can be accessed from the control panel system); or you can click the “detect hardware changes” button which sometimes connects you to the internet to download the drivers. Depending upon the manufacturer you can send E-mails to their customer service department ( you will need to know the model) sometimes they will send you the drivers.
2: a SATA or ‘Ribbon’ cord is unplugged, faulty, oxidized, shorting, and/or malfunctioning.
Remedy: you will either need to take it to a computer repair-Tech, or you send it to the manufacturer for repairs (if it is still under warranty), or you could possibly exchange it at the store you bought it from (depending on return policies), some retailers such as Target have a 90 day return period with receipt for any and all defects, whereas Best Buy is slightly more complicated.
3: There is nothing for Vista to recognize.
Remedy: try putting files on the SD card, Universal files such as Mp3, J-PEG’s, Batch (.bat), and/or .AVI, Mp4, MPEG’s
Hope this helps, or that you can return it or have it fixed by the manufacturer.
